Banana Ball is a fast-paced, high-energy version of baseball played by the teams of the Savannah Bananas organization. Designed to put entertainment first, the games combine competitive play with music, dancing, comedy, and constant fan interaction. The format includes unique rules to keep the action moving — no stepping out of the batter’s box, no mound visits, a two-hour time limit, and even a fan catch of a foul ball counting as an out. The result is a baseball experience that feels part sporting event, part live show.
Why It Was Started
Banana Ball was created to make baseball more exciting and accessible to modern audiences. Team owners Jesse and Emily Cole wanted to address common complaints about traditional games being too slow or lacking energy. Their goal was simple: eliminate downtime, increase action, and make every moment entertaining for fans of all ages. By blending athletics with showmanship, the league has attracted sold-out crowds and a massive social media following.
When It Began
The Banana Ball Championship League format was first introduced in exhibition games around 2020, but the concept grew quickly in popularity. By 2023, the organization expanded the idea into a full touring league, allowing multiple teams to compete regularly under Banana Ball rules while traveling to major stadiums across the country.
Teams and Where They Play
As of the 2026 season, the Banana Ball touring league features six primary teams:
- Savannah Bananas – based in Savannah
- Party Animals – the Bananas’ longtime rival touring team
- Firefighters – a themed team celebrating first responders
- Texas Tailgaters – representing the Texas region
- The Visitors – a rotating competitive squad
- The Indianapolis Clowns – inspired by the historic barnstorming franchise from Indianapolis
Unlike traditional leagues, Banana Ball teams don’t stay in one home stadium. Instead, they tour nationwide, playing in minor league parks, major league stadiums, and large football venues in dozens of cities each year.
With its mix of athletic skill, creativity, and crowd participation, Banana Ball has reinvented what a baseball game can be — turning America’s pastime into a full-scale entertainment event that keeps fans cheering from first pitch to final out.Top of FormBottom of Form
