House of the Dragon: Aegon Actor Discusses Character Development in Season 3

Viewers of the hit series House of the Dragon will witness a significant transformation in the character of King Aegon II in the upcoming Season 3.

Character Evolution

Season 2 saw Aegon endure severe hardships, including being burned by his brother, which left him as “a shell of himself.” Confined to his bedchamber, Aegon has developed a new sense of determination and a desire for revenge against those who wronged him.

In an interview with TheWrap, it was explained, “I think he had a lot of his swag taken away from him by nature of how restricting it was — to be burned at that level, you lose a lot of your movement and your confidence. When you’ve got people coming into your bedchamber to clean you up and help you go to the bathroom, your dignity is the last thing on your mind.”

The character evolves from being a shell of himself to becoming cold and focused by Episode 8. This new, determined version of Aegon is ready to exact revenge.

Main Cast and Series Overview

House of the Dragon, a spin-off series of the popular Game of Thrones franchise, is based on parts of George R. R. Martin’s 2018 novel Fire & Blood. It chronicles the rise and fall of the Targaryen family, set nearly 200 years before the events of the original series.

The series features a talented ensemble cast bringing to life the complex and intriguing characters that populate the world of Westeros.

Season 2 Synopsis

The official synopsis for Season 2 of House of the Dragon reads: “In King’s Landing, Aegon II rules from the Iron Throne, supported by Alicent and the Green Council, under the protection of the largest dragon in Westeros. From exile on Dragonstone, Queen Rhaenyra and her Black Council consider their next move. Civil war looms as both sides seek support from the great houses of Westeros, ultimately amassing armies — and dragons.”

The power struggles and impending conflicts set the stage for a dramatic and action-packed continuation of the Targaryen saga. Fans can anticipate intense battles, strategic alliances, and the ever-present threat of betrayal as the civil war unfolds.
